Experienced, Thoughtful Care—Focused on You
At Chester Smiles Dentistry, we believe that the best dental care comes from a place of trust and understanding. We are committed to listening first and treating you like family. At Chester Smiles Dentistry, care is guided by experience, precision, and a commitment to doing what is right for each individual patient. The doctors bring complementary perspectives to the practice—combining modern, conservative dentistry with a deep understanding of function, airway health, and long-term outcomes.
Patients from Chester, Mendham, Long Valley, Randolph, Hackettstown, and surrounding communities benefit from a collaborative approach that prioritizes clarity, comfort, and lasting results.

Dr. Michael Masino, DMD
Dr. Michael Masino’s path to dentistry was shaped by a strong foundation in science, engineering, and creativity. Growing up as a triplet in East Hanover, New Jersey, he was surrounded by a family drawn to healthcare—his brother became a chiropractor, and his sister a physician assistant in dermatology. His own journey began in biomedical engineering, where he developed a deep appreciation for problem-solving and precision.
While engineering offered technical challenges, it lacked the personal connection he was looking for. Dentistry provided the balance he was seeking—the ability to combine science, design, and patient care into one meaningful profession.
He earned his dental degree from Rutgers School of Dental Medicine, where he served as class president for all four years. He then completed a General Practice Residency at Morristown Medical Center, a Level One Trauma Center, gaining advanced experience in oral surgery, dental trauma, and complex cases in a hospital setting.
It was during this time that he trained under Dr. Joseph Gaudio, an experience that helped shape his philosophy of care. Both share a belief in conservative, physiology-driven dentistry—focusing on long-term function rather than unnecessary intervention.
As of April 1st, Dr. Masino became the owner of the practice, now known as Chester Smiles Dentistry. While the name has evolved, the philosophy remains consistent: thoughtful, patient-centered care with an emphasis on clarity and trust.
His clinical interests focus on conservative cosmetic dentistry, including:
- Invisalign and clear aligner therapy
- Teeth whitening
- Cosmetic bonding
- Porcelain veneers
These treatments are approached with restraint and intention—enhancing a smile without over-treatment, and always prioritizing natural structure and function.
Outside of dentistry, Dr. Masino enjoys woodworking and creating epoxy sculptures, ranging from large structural builds to detailed artistic pieces. This same attention to detail and respect for structure carries into his clinical work.
Above all, he values relationships. His goal is to partner with patients, provide clear guidance, and create an environment where decisions feel informed and comfortable.
Dr. Joseph Gaudio, DDS
Dr. Joseph Gaudio brings decades of experience and a deeply rooted philosophy centered on patient partnership and natural function. A graduate of Columbia University School of Dental and Oral Surgery in 1984, he has spent over 40 years refining his approach to dentistry—guided by mentorship, experience, and a commitment to continuous learning.
Early in his career, he worked alongside his mentor, Dr. Nicholas Vero, in Bergen County. That experience helped shape his dedication to excellence and patient-centered care, values that continue to define his work today.
In 1987, Dr. Gaudio and his wife Christine chose to build both their life and practice in the Chester/Long Valley area. Over the years, the community has become an extension of their family—a perspective that continues to influence how patients are welcomed and cared for.
Through Integrative Dental Health, Dr. Gaudio focuses on:
- TMJ therapy
- Airway dentistry
- Sleep apnea and sleep-related conditions
His approach emphasizes understanding how the body functions as a whole. Rather than isolating symptoms, he evaluates how airway health, jaw position, and muscle function interact—creating treatment plans that are both effective and sustainable.
Over time, his philosophy has become increasingly conservative. By aligning teeth properly and supporting natural function, aesthetic improvements often follow without the need for aggressive treatment.
Patients working with Dr. Gaudio often appreciate:
- A comprehensive, function-first perspective
- Clear explanations of complex conditions
- A focus on long-term stability and comfort
His continued presence within the practice ensures that patients have access to specialized care that complements the broader services offered at Chester Smiles Dentistry.
